The only time I want to be the biggest loser...

Hey ya'll! I hope everyone had a good weekend! We had a pretty good weekend here. I got to spend some girl time with my friends Saturday evening and that was a lot of fun. We did some makeup shopping at Sephora. My hubby and his friend watched the kids for me. We have a friend that works there and she showed us some makeup tips. It was so much fun...

Back to my post tho, like I mentioned in my post Monday, me and the hubs decided to join our friends in a "biggest loser" competition. It's been such a good decision for us. We are already pretty competitive people and this has helped our weight loss A LOT! Like I mentioned Monday, I've lost a total so far of 17 pounds and my husband has lost 30. We haven't weighed for about a week so I'm really hoping we lost even more than that.

I know there are a lot of different ways people do the "biggest loser" type of competition. The way we decided to it is splitting into 3 teams. We have 6 people to a team. We all weighed in on the same scale at a friend's house. We decided to take 3 months to compete. We each put in $10 a week. So in the end the group that loses the highest percentage wins the money.

I've never done anything like this before, but it has been so cool. Our friends are all trying to eat healthier and working out. The support has been great. We are all doing different diets. My hubby and I decided to go with the weight watcher diet. We used to go to the meetings and all that before we had kids. We really liked it then. We decided to do it at home using the tools we already had. So we are doing the "old" points system. It works really well for us tho. We found an iphone app that has been so helpful. It's called itrack bites. I think it's only a couple of dollars but it is worth so much more than that.

As far as what we are eating, I've been cooking at home a lot more. That has been an adjustment for me, because I love eating out so much. I had to get over my fear of the kitchen and just start cooking. I've found a lot of good recipes because of it. Here is my favorite I have found so far. It's spinach lasagna rolls I found on a blog. You can find the recipe here.

Sorry about the iphone picture! I snapped it in a hurry a couple weeks ago when I made them. Those are only four "old" points each and they were incredible.

The dieting hasn't been too bad! In addition to eating better, me and my husband have been working out. He had physical therapy for his MS a couple months ago and we have been trying to stick to that routine. His physical therapist was so nice and showed me a lot of the work outs that would be good for my husband. Our gym also has a pool that we can do our workouts together in.

I'm really loving this healthier lifestyle. It does make me mad that I didn't do it sooner. It's kind of shocking when I look at the food I was eating before all of this. When I see how many points or calories something is that I used to eat, it makes me sad. But, better late than never right? It's getting easier every day and I love having more energy.

So that's kind of whats going on with us in the dieting/working out department. I plan on writing another post about it when the Biggest Loser competition is over. I took some "before" pictures. If I'm brave enough I will share them when this is all over! :)

5 Favorite Things Fridays

A lot of things make me happy. A lot. I'm a pretty easy girl to please. I thought it would be fun to share some of the things that make my heart go pitter patter. I'm just gonna share five things today although there are so many things in my life I love right now. My favorite things may seem so silly to some. But, I think it's a good idea sometimes to list things we are grateful for, no matter how big or small.

These are just pictures I snapped with my phone over the last few weeks...

So please sing with me, here are a few of my faaaaavorite things...

1) Watching my baby boy eat a cupcake for the first time ever. I also have video. Cutest. Thing. Ever.

2) Freshly cleaned carpet. Is it weird I took this picture after the carpet cleaning guy left? Seeing my carpet all professionally clean really made my day. This was taken from my couch because the carpet was still wet so me and the kids got to sit on the couch and watch movies that day. (Excuse the way my living room looks! Carpet cleaning day is always chaotic on the house because I'm moving everything.)

3) Starbucks Venti Iced caffè mocha with non fat milk and no whip. Yes that is a mouthful to say. Try ordering it every time. This drink is awesome ya'll. Lemme tell you why, I still do the "old" weight watcher points system and this drink is ONE point. Yes you heard me ONE point. Anyone who does WWs will tell you that's a big deal. Finding something you love for only one point is awesome in my book. I really can't believe I don't have a picture of this favorite thing. I've drank plenty of them in the last few weeks on my diet.

4) Chevron. Chevron still makes me really happy. I was reading on someone's blog that they were so over it and sick of it. I'm not. I like love it still. I've got an house project I'm gonna try this weekend that involves chevron. We shall see how that goes...

5) And finally for this weeks favorite things, this may be on everyone's favorite thing list, SPRING! I am so excited that it's getting warmer and nicer outside. I even planted some flowers in a big pot on my porch. I do not have a green thumb so this may seem small to some but it's a really big deal to me. Here's a picture of when I first planted them a few weeks back. They have grown and really filled up that pot really pretty but more importantly, THEY ARE STILL ALIVE! That makes me happy beyond words. I will have to take some pictures of them now to show they are still alive and kickin. I took this picture because I was so proud of myself for even attempting flowers again. I got so worried after I killed some others over the years.

So those are my five favorite things this week! Thanks for stopping by!

How to pack an organized suitcase

Hey ya'll! So today I thought I would share how I pack my suitcase. Having an organized suitcase helps me so much when we go out of town. And it's starting to be that time of year again where we go on vacations and little weekend getaways. We just went out of town last week and so I snapped a few pictures of how I like to pack my suitcase.

The first thing I do is check the weather of where I'm going. On this trip it was warm and sunny, so I packed capris, shorts and one pair of jeans for the drive home. I also packed a light jacket just in case the nights got chilly. Then I pick a dominate color that I use in all my outfits. I find it easier because my nail polish and purse will coordinate with all my outfits.

After I have my main color, I lay out my outfits and start piecing together my accessories. In our last trip I needed four outfits. I try to make it where I can wear the same shoes multiple times.

I then take my outfits of choice and use the large ziplock bags to combine them. I put the outfit, my undies (you can't see them in the pictures because I hid them!), and my jewelry to wear with that outfit all together in the baggie. For my earrings, I use these little plastic baggies to keep them from getting lost. You can find them in the craft store in the jewelry making department. I actually use those to store my jewelry too. I might just have to share how I have my jewelry organized in a later post!

I love packing my suitcase like this. Getting dressed while I'm on vacation is just a no-brainer. I grab the bag for that day and everything I need is in there. It makes getting ready just so much faster and easier

I also try to get as much air out of the baggies as I can. Everything fits in my suitcase so much better this way. Also not shown in the picture is a swimsuit. I always pack one just in case the hotel has a pool and the kids want to swim. We didn't have time to swim in the hotel's pool on this trip. But, if I didn't pack one, everyone would have probably wanted to, isn't that the way it always goes?

To make packing a little bit easier, I try to get caught up on the laundry the day before I pack. It makes picking out my outfits a lot easier. And I use a list. I am a big list person. I think I may have a list for everything in my life, ha!

So that's how I pack my suitcase, do ya'll have any tips to share for an organized suitcase? I would love to hear them in the comments!
