A simple kind of life

I don't know if I've ever mentioned it before but No Doubt is by far my favorite band in the whole wide world. I think Gwen was really on to something when she wrote A simple kind of life.

That is what I long for... Another thing you may not know about me is that I love staying at hotels. Why you ask? They are simple. Think about it, you have a night stand with only a phone, clock and lamp on it. A dresser that has a TV. A desk with a simple notebook and pen. Fluffy pillows on an inviting bed just calling your name.

No clutter staring you in the face.

I think this is such a beautiful hotel room! I would love to be there right now!

A hotel room is so easy to keep clean and tidy because we only have the things we truly need there. It is simple living at its best. That is why when I go to one I can relax so easy. Our family usually all gets in the king bed and we find a good movie to watch in a very uncluttered, tidy, clean and simple room. *sigh* Just thinking about it makes me wish I were on vacation in a hotel room right now!

My goal is to make our house feel as relaxing as that hotel room. I want us to have our basic few things we need and be able to just spend time with the family without feeling this overwhelming guilt that I need to be cleaning.

I don't know about y'all but my "cleaning the house" really just feels like carrying stuff from one room to the other. Really if you think about it sometimes the stuff we buy is robbing us of so much more valuable things. We have to spend so much time and energy cleaning, sorting, putting away and storing our "stuff".

Then when I feel overwhelmed by it all, I want to get away from the house so I end up going to Target. Where I just buy more "stuff" to clutter the house with.

Please tell me I'm not the only one that does that??

Because of all this my house does not feel like the relaxing and peaceful CASTLE I want it to.

So for the next few days I'm going to be decluttering our entire house. I will be sharing about that and how I'm getting rid of all this "stuff"!

  1. I'm right there with you! That's exactly how I was feeling, until I found the minimalist way of living, and it's changing our entire home! However, I have to say, in this whole blogland place, I'm really sticking out like a sore thumb these days, lol!

    1. I know what you mean! Although I have noticed more bloggers going towards a more simple and minimalist outlook on things lately. I really love that look! So glad that it's changing your home for the better! :)

  2. It's like you're talking about me! I do the same thing! I get frustrated and depressed with how cluttered my house is and instead of doing something about it, I take myself shopping! And it's always for stuff for the house. Then I get even more depressed because I spent money we didn't have on stuff we didn't need. I found you on The Nester and can't wait to see what you do this month!

  3. Have you ever thought about adding a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is fundamental and everything. Nevertheless imagine if you added some great photos or videos to give your posts more, "pop"! Your content is excellent but with images and video clips, this website could undeniably be one of the best in its field. Amazing blog! aol mail login
